Operations Manager
Kim Ford joined Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues as the Operations Manager in March 2007. In this capacity, she oversees the administrative and financial activities, human resources, operations and recordkeeping of the organization.
Previously, she served on the board of African Ancestral Lesbians United for Societal Change, becoming their first salaried Executive Director. Prior to that, she worked at the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice as a part of its development team.
Kim has extensive experience with grassroots organizations, including participating on the committees of NYC’s annual LGBTST Kwanzaa celebration; NYC’s first Black Pride; the Audre Lorde Project’s Arms Akimbo conference; and NYC’s People of Color Pride Weekends, as well as working in coalition with Las Buenas Amigas and The Lesbian Avengers. She has facilitated workshops; moderated and spoken at various events, panels and readings; and presented on various topics including organizing in the LGBTST POC communities, racism within LGBTST communities, women’s health and wellness, and sexuality.
Kim’s past memberships include the Out People of Color Political Action Club, the LGBTST POC Progressive Organizing Coalition, and The People of Color Steering Committee. She has also been profiled in GO NYC Magazine, Sable Magazine (an online publication) and Venus Magazine.
Over the years, Kim has studied several spiritualities, meditations and healings. She is also pursuing a career in real estate.
