National Teleconference for Funders: Supporting Communities Impacted by the Orlando Massacre

7/28/2016
11:00 am – 12:30 pm ET

Join us for our second teleconference in a series of calls focused on the Orlando massacre. Our first call focused on the various philanthropic responses in the wake of the tragedy. (A recording of that call can be found here.)

This second call will focus on the impact of the massacre on communities in central Florida and beyond. It will also help funders understand how they can support efforts led by local LGBTQ and Latino communities in the wake of the tragedy. This call will highlight both the current response on the ground in Orlando as well as long and short term needs that remain related to services, community building, healing, and advocacy.

This call will be co-moderated by Ben Francisco Maulbeck, President of Funders for LGBTQ Issues and Stacy Carlson, President & CEO of the Florida Philanthropic Network. Speakers on the call will include:

  • Zoe Colon, Director of Florida & Southeast Operations for the Hispanic Federation;
  • Joel Morales, Lead HIV Tester at The Orlando LGBTQ Center;
  • Marco Antonio Quiroga, Director of Public Policy at True Colors Fund; and
  • Nadine Smith, CEO at Equality Florida
